American representatives of Sister Cities International visited Gibraltar on Thursday the 19th of April for the first time in the association's 62 years history this week, in a bid to foster relationship between the countries.
The event hosted yesterday by the Gibraltar American Chamber of Commerce saw the representative's on a fact finding mission. Forging links between the University of Gibraltar and it's American counterparts were of particular interest and Jane Cahaly from Sister Cities noted, "I'm very excited at trying to get the University of Gibraltar to form links between universities in the US. I work in a consortium of 44 universities in the US and we do International programming so getting to know the folks here in Gibraltar is extremely valuable". Ms Cahaly is currently the Senior consultant for International Programmes with the consortium for Global Education that sees thousands of students participate in overseas study.

The AmCham Thanksgiving Charity Gala Dinner will be held on 23rd of November 2017 on Sunborn. The keynote speaker is US advertising Executive, Kevin Allen, (bio attached) and the three course traditional dinner will be followed by entertainment from the ever popular, Jetstream.

AmCham Gibraltar hosted an educational roundtable on the topic of Philanthropy, with Randi Weaver of Good Giving Consulting, on the 4th of May at the Wessex Lounge.
Randi led a thought-provoking session about the essentials of Philanthropy: why people give and how donors, be they individuals, families or companies, can feel more satisfied about their charitable giving. The event was well-supported by AmCham Gibraltar members, including marketing managers and people focusing on Corporate Social Responsibility.

With the advent of a hard Brexit looming, the Gibraltar-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Gibraltar), the Gibraltar-Israel Chamber of Commerce (Gibrael) and the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce have come together to network and demonstrate unity by holding an exclusive wine-tasting event for their members at the La Sala Lounge, in the Sunborn Hotel. The President of the Gibraltar America Chamber of Commerce says he not at all concerned about trade links between Gibraltar and the US.
Donald Trump has declared that he wants to do away with trade deals with Europe, however, James Lazry has pointed out that Mr Trump wants to strengthen the relationship with the UK, and AmCham is close to solidifying a syndication with Amcham UK, so this could in fact be good news.

Amcham Gibraltar Together With The Advanced Leadership Foundation Hosted A Breakfast For The Fall 2017 Washington Program Students
AmCham Gibraltar together with The Advanced Leadership Foundation hosted a breakfast on Tuesday the 27th of February, 2018 to welcome back, the students from the Fall 2017 Internship Program to Washington DC.
Our first event of the Fall will be a partnership with Start Up Grind who every month hold an event; interviewing outstanding personalities in the business community. This month's interview will be with Felix Moreno de la Cova, CFO of Xapo (Gibraltar) Ltd. This will take place on Thursday the 12th of October at World Trade Center Gibraltar, 5:30pm.

Local leaders from some of the different sectors in Gibraltar including AmCham members, representatives from the Gibraltar Government and other local guests looking to enjoy good food, a good time, and above all; to support AmCham Gibraltar and GibSams (The Gibraltar branch of Samaritans UK).
